Instructor Qualification Process

The SCOR training program is facilitated by instructors qualified by Supply Chain Council. We welcome candidates to enroll in the instructor qualification process. Supply Chain Council will periodically review the need to qualify additional instructors to support growth of our training and certification programs and instructor attrition¹. We qualify our instructors carefully, as they are the face of the Supply Chain Council for many individuals and companies. Our trainees depend on it.

Steps to become a qualified instructor

The table below lists the 8 steps to complete qualification as instructor.

  Step   Activity Resources
1 Ensure you meet the entry requirements
SCC qualified instructors need to meet the following entry requirements: SCOR-P certified, proven SCOR project experience and experience in all functions of supply chain operations (Plan, Source, Make, Deliver and Return) and employment by a SCC member. Fluency in additional languages is a prerequisite in some regions.

2 Submit your resume
Submit your resume in English to the New instructor mailbox. Please include relevant references and case studies. We will review your application and the demand for new instructors in your region. We may decide to postpone your qualification if we do not need additional instructors at the time of your application.
3 Formal interview
Candidate instructors will be interviewed by the instructor development team to review resume, SCOR, supply chain and teaching experience. Our team will review instructor responsibilities and answer any questions the candidate may have.
4 Sign Instructor Agreement
Please review the instructor agreement carefully as it stipulates both the responsibilities and limitations for Supply Chain Council qualified instructors. We will send you a personal instructor agreement, the document listed in the resources column is an example.

5 Attend SCOR trainings
Schedule and attend workshops taught by an experienced instructor. The purpose of taking these classes is to observe the instructor and develop your speaker notes for the materials. Supply Chain Council will cover training fees for the candidate instructor, time and travel cost are not reimbursed.

6 Prepare yourself
Candidates are provided access to the training materials and are expected to create their own speaker notes and examples. Instructors need to establish a personal list of experience examples they will use in the workshops. Supply Chain Council will assign an experienced instructor to each candidate for technical (SCOR and training) support.

7 Formal conference room training
Candidate will be invited to teach a subset of the training materials to the instructor development team. Our team will evaluate presentation skills, ability to "think on your feet", and presentation style. This step will be repeated until the instructor development team determines the candidate is ready to teach.

8 Perform first workshop
Candidates will run the SCOR workshop with an experienced SCC qualified instructor present. The experienced instructor is accountable for the quality of the workshop. If he/she determines that there is a problem, he/she will smoothly transition the training to him/herselve, and the candidate instructor will be given time to re-calibrate during a break period and then restart. Upon successful completion of the first training, the candidate will be officially qualified by the instructor development team and put on the official roster of Supply Chain Council qualified instructors.

¹ Each instructor will need to run at least one workshop per year to maintain their 'SCC Qualified Instructor' status. Supply Chain Council reserves the right to postpone qualification of a candidate or reject candidates based on demand and/or qualifications. The qualification process for SCOR Scholar instructors follows the same general process. The sequence of steps may differ and steps 2 and 4 will be combined in a single entry conversation.
