AMR Research, in conjunction with a subgroup of the Supply Chain Council, has surveyed almost 200 organizations to assess the state of the supply chain management discipline, identify key requirements to support a demand-driven curriculum, and construct the first functional talent attribute model, which will serve to align industry and academia in generating standardized and more universal supply chain programs. Conclusions: 1. No two supply chains are alike (Scope of what is considered "supply chain"); 2. Leaders view supply chain management as a business discipline; 3. Globalization has created urgency; 4. A common supply chain talent model is the foundation for improvement; 5. Universities have an opportunity to take a leadership role.
