The Supply Chain Operations Reference model (SCOR) provides the standard language to describe the performance, configuration, activities, practices and workforce assets of a supply chain. The reference model consists of 4 key pillars (sections in the PDF and printed versions):
- Performance; Metrics help to describe the performance of the supply chain
- Processes help explain how the supply chain is configured (what activities are taking place)
- Practices are unique ways to configure supply chain processes
- People; Assess needs, availability and gaps of skills in the supply chain workforce
Each section consists of elements that have hierarchical relationships and have relationships with elements of the other sections. For example: Metrics are linked to processes, practices are linked to processes, skills are linked to processes. These relationships support the diagnostic analysis and root causing of performance gaps.

Practices or Best Practices provide alternative ways to configure supply chain processes. SCOR has organized practices in 3 categories:
Practices are linked to SCOR processes at all levels. Some best practices may reference the experienced metric improvement.
|
Skills | Experiences | Aptitudes | Training
The standards for workforce - Skills and the skill defining elements; Experience, Aptitude and Training - support Organizational Design (OD) activities on a SCOR project. Additionally hiring managers can identify skills, experiences, aptitudes and training to look for in an applicants resume or existing staff profiles. Select one of the lists below to browse workforce standards.
Skills are linked to level 3 processes. Skills are defined by Experiences, Aptitudes and Training.
