Benchmarking

From Inward to Outward: Benchmarking

There are two themes I see emerging in conversations I have had with companies lately on benchmarking: First, is the lack of detailed data in SCORmark for their particular industry. Second, is the difficulty in interpreting benchmark data, and understanding their own company performance. Several petrochemical companies had some particularly strong problems in these areas, and I advised that it might be better if they move from internal benchmarking to external benchmarking over time.

Software Supply Chain - Special but Familiar

Recently I participated in SCC's launch of research in Software Industry Supply Chains, in San Jose, hosted by Adobe - many thanks for their superb facilities. Present were many major Software players and the discussion revolved around what can SCC bring to Software Supply Chain, and how can using SCOR help improve performance.

This workshop presentation introduces supply chain executives to the fundamental steps of deep, end-to-end alignment within their supply chains.

Participants will understand how to identify supply chains, identify competitive strategies, instrument those strategies with SCOR metrics, use open-source benchmarking to define performance gaps and improvement requirements, and see how the alignment from top business requirements cascades all the way to detailed process performance requirements within their organizations.

The SCOR training program is facilitated by instructors qualified by Supply Chain Council. We welcome candidates to enroll in the instructor qualification process. Supply Chain Council will periodically review the need to qualify additional instructors to support growth of our training and certification programs and instructor attrition¹.

Companys usually want to benchmark their SC against direct competitor's. However in some countries there are not enough players to build a statistical valid sample of companies. How should they deal with this constraint?
